Recently we talked about the kind of gifts you can consider for your next anniversary, but anniversaries are more than just about exchanging gifts with one another. They’re also a time to show your loved one you care by creating a special experience. Let’s take a look at some of the traditional and not-so-traditional things you can do for your anniversary.

A Dinner

Going out to eat is a common way of celebrating an anniversary, especially to a place that is more upscale than what you usually eat. What’s really important is that the restaurant provides enough privacy to talk about your feelings toward one another and creates an aura of specialness to the occasion. It’s a little hard to talk about your love in a crowded buffet or fast food restaurant!

Then again, one of these places may hold a special memory for you, so don’t feel like you have to blow your budget on reservations if it would be more meaningful to go to the Chinese buffet. You can take the extra money and try some of these other suggestions.

Holiday

Some couples like to treat milestone anniversaries as a sort of mini-honeymoon by taking a holiday somewhere. This is an excellent gift to give to each other, but it’s hard to spring it on them in advance, especially if both partners are working. This is something you should talk about with your partner in advance so that the special trip isn’t spoiled by worries.

Holidays also allow you to have a lot of privacy to share intimate moments and also create a special backdrop for giving gifts of jewelry. An anniversary ring given in a beautiful foreign land will remind your partner of that amazing trip every time they look at it. Wouldn’t that be a wonderful thing to do?

Gifting

Not all couples can get away even for an evening to do something they love together. For busy couples like these, exchanging gifts is the best way to go. While we are obviously biased toward jewelry and traditional anniversary gifts (see our previous article on that), those aren’t the only options.

If you know there is something special your partner wants and would find romantic, go for that. What’s important is that it is meaningful. Avoid just giving cash and spare the gift cards unless they’re for something really specific your partner loves. Put some thought into it. Even a hand-made card is better than cash.

Do Something Meaningful

All anniversary activities and gifts boil down to just doing something meaningful for your partner that celebrates your time together. You know your partner better than anyone else, so go with the thing that you know they’ll enjoy and treasure. If you follow that, there’s no way you can give or do something they won’t appreciate. And if you know that what they want is some jewelry, Grogan Jewelers is ready to show you a wide selection of anniversary jewelry for both men and women. Stop by our shop today and see our selection.
